The Juris Doctor Online, the first of BG&L’s flagship online postgraduate programs offered in partnership with Keypath Education, opened for enrolment on 31 August 2021, with intake starting from January 2022, the first of six annual study periods. It is a four-year part-time course accredited for admission as a lawyer. The target market is ‘career changers’ and ‘career climbers’ around Australia attracted to the flexible and individualised curriculum, and Canberra Law School’s expertise in business law, justice, and dispute management.
Associate Professor Fanny Thornton has embraced the spirit of the online Juris Doctor by working from Germany with Keypath learning designers, Head of School Professor Alison Gerard and Program Director Associate Professor Trevor Ryan. The team has worked through the painstaking process of designing lesson plans and premium online content for the first two units on offer, Legal Methods and Skills and Legal Systems. The next cab off the rank is Dispute Management, convened by Carli Kulmar, who also brings a wealth of experience in online teaching to the partnership. The Canberra Law School looks forward to showcasing this content over the coming months.
