CORAL JOHNSON

After following her husband around Australia for his work – including Western Australia, Victoria and Sydney – Coral Johnson finally moved to the Canberra region by her own choice, not his!

Coral has worked extensively in the banking and financial planning sector in both private and corporate worlds before coming across to the University sector in 2019 in the admissions area of Global Student Recruitment. Coral’s previous studies include a Bachelor of Business in Information Systems with a management minor from Curtin University, a Diploma of Financial Planning and a recently completed Graduate Certificate in Business Administration at UC.

The Weekly Wrap caught up with Coral and here are Coral's answers to our light-hearted questions.

Where do we find you this weekend?

In lock down in NSW, however I am attempting to go out for a bush walk near my home whenever I can – weather permitting!

What’s the ideal start to a Sunday? Gentle start or a jolt?

I’m an early riser even on weekends, but I don’t see it as a jolt but rather a gentle start. I enjoy just being with my family and enjoying a little telly, coffee and some light conversation.

What’s the best thing you’ve watched on TV recently?

Definitely the Tokyo Paralympics – I was so addicted and drew such great inspiration from each athlete competing. The three years to the next games cannot come soon enough!

A glass of something you’d recommend?

My preference is a white wine – usually an Italian pinot grigio or a Western Australian Amberley Chenin Blanc.

What’s that you’re singing in the shower?

Usually something from the Hamilton soundtrack but nothing is off limits singing wise.

Soundtrack of your choice?

The Broadway soundtrack of Hamilton. I’m still amazed at how an American history lesson can be portrayed through music.

Best vacation you’ve been to?

I loved spending two weeks with my family living in Hong Kong with my girlfriend. Luckily she had a large home in the New Territories area to accommodate us all. It gave us a more in depth view of Hong Kong by not staying in a regular hotel and we got to see things we wouldn’t usually see.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.

I used to do competitive 3DAAA and target archery. I was nowhere as good as my then 10 year old daughter who at the time was state champion for her age group, but I could hold my own with a compound bow. Not so long ago I got to have another shoot at a local club – it appears that I haven’t lost my touch!

The ideal dinner menu?

Dessert first would be my preference as I am a definite sweet tooth! However I love a menu that incorporates Italian, Greek or Lebanese foods.

Ideal dinner venue?

So many choices in Canberra! I loved Ottoman in Barton though as it had a great ambience without being too over the top.
