Francesco Veri is a Postdoctoral fellow for the Swiss National Science Foundation at the Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance. Before moving to Australia, Francesco completed his MA in contemporary history at the University of Fribourg and his PhD dissertation on the extension of citizenship rights in the context of direct democracy at the University of Lucerne. Francesco is specialized in quantitative and set-theoretic methods with an emphasis on fuzzy logic applied to social sciences.
The Weekly Wrap caught up with Francesco and here are his answers to our light-hearted questions.
Where do we find you this weekend?
Probably on top of some hill with my kids.
What’s the ideal start to a Sunday? Gentle start or a jolt?
I am usually going for a run early in the morning
What’s the best thing you’ve watched on TV recently?
The NRL Grand Final
A glass of something you’d recommend?
A glass of Nebbiolo either from Piedmont or Valtellina in Lombardy. A very smooth red wine with silky tannins.
What’s that you’re singing in the shower?
It depends on my mood. I like to sing… always in Italian.
Best vacation you’ve been to?
Anywhere in the Alps. Before coming to Australia I used to climb a peak every weekend.
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.
I am a beekeeper. When I was in Switzerland, I used to have around 30 hives.
The ideal dinner menu?
Usei scapà… A north Italian dish, my mum’s speciality.
Ideal dinner venue?
In a Crotto (rustic restaurant) on lake Como.
